JOINT CRISIS COMMITTEE

AGENDA ITEM : The Battle Which Changed the History of British: BATTLE OF HASTINGS

WILL WILLIAM BE THE CONQUEROR?

The death of the elderly English king, Edward the Confessor, on 5 January set off a chain of events that would lead, on 14 October, to the Battle of Hastings. In the years that followed, the Normans had a profound impact on the country they had conquered. William's reign saw the imposition of Norman customs, institutions, and language upon the Anglo-Saxon population. His ascension to power marked the beginning of Norman rule in England, profoundly shaping the nation's future trajectory and leaving a lasting imprint on its political, social, and cultural landscape.
